I rewatched Alien: Romulus last night. I had seen it in IMAX when it came out in the summer of 2024.
My opinion hasn't changed much. It's a good entry in the franchise, but it doesn't bring much that you haven't seen before (though those mining colonies look depressing as fuck). They almost get the "being scared the whole time rather than showing off" from the original movie right, but the "get away from her.... you bitch" broke that (a wink at Aliens). The special effects are great, that stuff looks so damn real. The characters haven't grown on me: I only really like the "synthetic". And there's that guy who acts and talks like a douchebag that you just can't wait to see die a painful death.
It's definitely better than Alien: Resurrection, and I'm not really a fan of Alien 3 either.
What's the last movie you saw?

The Bedford Incident (1965). Black and white movie. I found it on YouTube, but I could swear I saw this movie a very long time ago.
A U.S. Navy ship is tracking a Soviet submarine and the captain is a little obsessed with getting them. The captain is a hardass and runs a tight ship, though not tight enough, as it turned out. I wasn't expecting that ending (even though, once it was over, I was convinced I had seen it before...)

Event Horizon
Year 2047, a rescue ship leaves to find a spaceship that was lost years earlier. That spaceship can fold space and time to go to its destination almost instantaneously. This is basically horror science-fiction, in roughly the same league as Alien (not as good and different story, of course). It starts off a bit slow but after a while you're on the edge of your seat until the end. I saw it when it came out in 1997 and didn't like it as much back then.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre! I think I've seen this movie over 20 times and it never gets boring, from the insanely pretty actresses, to the stupid humour to chainsaw slaughtering. Everything about it is so perfect, come to think of it I might just open a few beers tonight and watch it again haha.
